My Hometown Slawi

Slawi is a place where I was born. It is one of sub-districts of district  Tegal  that located in East Java and also the capital of district Tegal. Slawi is bordered by District Adiwerna in the north, the District Pangkah in the east, District and Sub-District Lebaksiu in Dukuh Waru south west. It takes approximately three hours by train from Semarang to reach Slawi.

Slawi is famous for its tea production and culture moci (Tea pot). Moci means thati is drinking a tea that comes from containers made of clay pot. Although famous for tea, Slawi is not a plateau in the cold with many tea gardens. Slawi is an area that has a temperature which tends to heat. In addition Slawi is also famous for its food called “Tahu Aci”. Tahu Aci is made from tofu on which laid  a shaft (starch) mixed with scallions and then fried until cooked.

Slawi also has some interesting places to visit. First is Slawi Square,  a park with a huge fountain which located in front of the pavilion Tegal. At first, The atmosphere in the Slawi Square was very crowded, especially on week nights.  Lots of traders sell various of food and drink around the square. but after having massive renovations, the square becomes deserted by visitors and also the huge fountain which became a symbol of the square has been removed. The second is Struggle Monument GBN, a historical monument during the Darul Islam rebellion / Islamic Army of Indonesia (DI / TII). It is located on Jl. Ahmad Yani precisely in front of the Great Mosque Slawi. Next is Ruko Slawi which is one of trading center in the Slawi. At first, this place is simply a market that is finally moved in Trayeman and built this trading center that is located in the city center Slawi. And the last is Mutiara Cahaya Supermarket. First Mutiara Cahaya is one of the first supermarket in Slawi, located in front of the Trade center Slawi, as well as Second  Mutiara Cahaya is located right next to First Mutiara Cahaya. 

For me, my hometown Slawi is the best and most comfortable city that I have ever lived.
